Draft for my front cover

Below I have attached a image of my first draft. There are many alterations that need to be made such as the title's font and inserting my own original image.

Selecting a title for my magazine

During the process of creating my magazine I have struggled to think of a name for my magazine. As it is a mainstream magazine I have researched into other words for the definition of "Mainstream". All the words that I did find were extremely boring and were not appropriate for a Magazine title.

As I was struggling to find a title I spoke to my teacher that pointed me in the direction of going for the a word such as "omnibus" which means "everything". I did not think this was right for a magazine title as it could be related with a TV programmes "omnibus".  In conclusion I decided on the word "omniscient" which is the definition of "knowing everything"

Changing my font

I have now started to create my magazine pages as the deadline is approaching very quickly. As I cannot schedule to do my photo-shoot with my model till Sunday 10th of February. I'm going to use all my class time and a fair amount of my free time to create my magazine pages.

Today I started to create my front cover and I have decided to change my font as I think my original front is unclear to read. I am now using "Lucida Calligraphy" as my title font with a royal blue colour

Production Schedule

Below I have attached a Production schedule for my photo-shoot on the 10th of February. I did this to insure that on the day of the photo-shoot I have everything I will need and will run along a schedule. I will also provide all my crew with a copy of this production schedule to insure they are all aware of the timings and locations.

Collage of Costumes,Make Up, and Hair

As I will be recreating the Lana Del Rey photo shoot I have researched into her style and fashion from numerous photo shoots and photographs .  She has a vintage and classic hollywood style which consist of many floral patterns, along with elegant and 60's inspired clothing. Below is a collage of the costumes that Lana Del Rey's stylist dress her in:

I have also created a collage on Lana Del Rey's Hair style. Her stylist have also used 60's style to inspire her look. She has a variety of different hair styles that range from barrel curls to big bouffants. She is also pictured in many different hair accessories such as flowers, headbands and hats.

Lana Del Rey's make up is very consistent throughout all the photographs. It is a very natural base with heavy eyeliner, it can also sometimes include red and pale pink lipsticks. Although her make up is very repetitive, I have created a collage in order to insure my model will have the correct make up.

Color Scheme and Fonts

My Colour Scheme is going to be very similar to the cover of the Rolling Stones. The whole cover will be filled with a black and white image of my cover star so i'm going to use a minimalist color scheme of Black, Red and Dark Blue. The title of the magazine will be in the Dark Blue along with the very few other titles. All other Headings including the Cover Star's article will be in either black or white.

I looked at many different fonts on the program "indesign". I have decided to have two different fonts; "Brush Script MT" for my magazine title and "Adobe Caslon Pro" for the other titles and feature headings on the front cover of my magazine.

For my contents page I have decided to use "Adobe Caslon Pro" (the same font from my front cover). I have choose this font as I want to keep a consistent theme throughout my magazine, in order to make sure I do keep a consistent theme I need the same fonts and color scheme. Below is examples of the fonts I have decided to use:

Rolling stone conventions

                                                         Double Page Spread:

The double page spread has half of the page for the article and the other half of the page has a very
large image of the cover star. Three main colours of white, black and red.

                                                             Contents Page:

The contents page has a list of the contents which has a brief explanation of the article. It then has
a large image of the cover star with an explanation of their article. The picture in the top left
corner is of another artist/band with a explanation of their article.

Choosing a genre

I have decided to re create the front cover magazine from the rolling stones magazine below. I have now realised that the magazine's genre is mainstream. I really like this title page and want to recreate it
